Our Posture in This Season: Prayer and More Prayer

In this season, our posture should be one of prayer—persistent, fervent, and unwavering prayer. Now more than ever, we must incline our ears to the heart of the Father, seeking His will and standing in the gap for others. As intercessors, we must be sensitive to the voice of God, discerning the times and seasons, and praying according to His divine purpose.

Many think that intercession is reserved for a select few, but the truth is, every believer is called to intercede. Whether you pray for your family, stand in the gap for your friends, cover your workplace in prayer, or intercede for nations, you are an intercessor. The size of the assignment does not determine its significance—every prayer matters! The Lord has commanded us to pray without ceasing, and even Jesus, our elder brother, intercedes for us before the Father.

1 Thessalonians 5:17 (KJV) – Pray without ceasing.

This is not a suggestion—it is a command. Prayer should not be an occasional act but a continual posture. It is through prayer that we align ourselves with God’s will, receive divine strategies, and see heaven move on earth.

The Call to Intercede:

An intercessor is one who stands in the gap on behalf of others, much like Abraham did when he pleaded for Sodom (Genesis 18:23-33) and like Moses when he interceded for Israel (Exodus 32:11-14). Whether you are praying for your household, your workplace, your church, or your nation, you are engaging in one of the most powerful roles in the Kingdom.

Ezekiel 22:30 (KJV) – And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none. God is still looking for those who will stand in the gap. Will you answer the call?

The Example of Jesus:

Jesus Himself is the greatest intercessor. Even now, He is at the right hand of the Father, making intercession for us. If Jesus prays for us, how much more should we pray for one another? Romans 8:34 (KJV) – Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.

If our Savior is continually interceding, we must follow His example. Our prayers should be filled with faith, authority, and expectation, knowing that God hears and answers.

A Season to Be Watchful and Ready:

This is not a time to be spiritually asleep. The enemy is seeking to devour, but through prayer, we build a hedge of protection around ourselves and others. The Bible warns us to be sober and vigilant, always watching and praying.1 Peter 5:8 (KJV) – Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.

We must remain spiritually alert, discerning the plans of the enemy and countering them with strategic prayer. There is no room for complacency. The Holy Spirit will reveal things to us, but we must be in a posture to listen and act in prayer. Mark 14:38 (KJV) – Watch ye and pray, lest ye enter into temptation. The spirit truly is ready, but the flesh is weak. Prayer strengthens us and prepares us for what is to come. It is our greatest weapon and our direct line to the Father.

The Power of Unified Intercession:

There is power when intercessors unite in prayer. The early church understood this, and because of their prayers, miracles, deliverance, and breakthroughs followed. Acts 12:5 (KJV) – Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him. The prayers of the church resulted in an angelic intervention and Peter’s miraculous release. Imagine what God can do when we, His people, rise up in prayer with one heart and one voice!

A Call to Action:

This is a clarion call to every believer—arise in prayer! Strengthen your prayer life, intercede for those around you, and be watchful in the Spirit. Let your heart be knitted to the heart of the Father so that you can pray according to His will. Jeremiah 33:3 (KJV) – Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not. God is waiting for His people to call upon Him. He desires to reveal mysteries, bring deliverance, and manifest His glory, but it starts with prayer.

So in this season, let your posture be prayer—prayer and more prayer! Stay alert, stay ready, and intercede with boldness. Heaven is waiting to move on your behalf. Are you ready to stand in the gap?

A Prayer to Strengthen the Intercessors

Heavenly Father, in the mighty name of Jesus, I lift up every intercessor before You. Lord, strengthen those whom You have called to stand in the gap. Pour out fresh oil upon them, and renew their strength as they labor in prayer. Let them not grow weary or discouraged, but empower them to press forward with boldness and faith.

Isaiah 40:31 (KJV) – But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

Father, I ask that You sharpen their spiritual ears, that they may hear Your voice clearly and discern the times and seasons. Let them be sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit and pray according to Your perfect will. Give them divine strategies to pray effectively and to dismantle the works of the enemy. John 10:27 (KJV) – My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.

Lord, cover them under the shadow of Your wings. Protect them from every attack of the enemy. I declare that no weapon formed against them shall prosper, and every tongue that rises against them in judgment shall be condemned.

Isaiah 54:17 (KJV) – No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is of me, saith the Lord.

Father, ignite their passion for prayer. Remove every distraction, every burden, and every weight that seeks to hinder their assignment. Fill them with fresh fire, fresh anointing, and a deeper hunger for Your presence.

Jeremiah 20:9 (KJV) – But his word was in mine heart as a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I was weary with forbearing, and I could not stay.

Lord, strengthen their faith, that they may pray with authority and confidence, knowing that You hear and answer their prayers. Let them not waver or doubt but stand firm, fully persuaded that You are able to do exceedingly abundantly above all they could ask or think.

Mark 11:24 (KJV) – Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.

Father, surround them with other prayer warriors who will encourage and uplift them. Let them not feel alone, but remind them that they are part of a mighty army of intercessors standing together for Your kingdom.

Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 (KJV) – Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up.

Lord, let Your glory rest upon them. Let Your Spirit intercede through them with groanings that cannot be uttered. Raise them up as watchmen on the wall, steadfast and unmovable, praying until Your will is accomplished on earth as it is in heaven.

Romans 8:26 (KJV) – Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

Thank You, Father, for calling and equipping these intercessors. Strengthen them, uphold them, and reward their faithfulness. Let them walk in victory, knowing that their prayers are powerful and effective. In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen!
